The Moss Family // At home

In the dog house

I had a blast with the Moss family a couple Saturdays ago. It was a house full of family, friends, dogs, and laughter -- complete chaos in all the right ways.

I love shooting in and around a family's home. The session is always more chill, as well as easier and fun for young kids ... and dads.

Seeing Red

I had picked up these two polka-dot blouses at a local thrift store -- where they where hanging next to each other on a rack, just asking to be photographed. Red polka-dots, against a white backdrop, at a white table. That was the idea. Sisters Malery and Sydney were my willing subjects. Their only instruction -- wear red lipstick.

Sometimes the best shots happen during the light test. This shoot was no exception.

The Butterfield Family

The following conversation happened between myself and their youngest daughter.

"We're not going to have any fun. I'm not a fun photographer."

"I don't believe you."

"Why not?"

"You just asked him to do kicks in the air."

She was on to me.

The Legas Brothers // Five years later

I first met and photographed these two back in 2010 -- while over at their home to photograph their father. I had them jump in, along with their younger brother, for a few shots with their dad and then afterwords we had them try to out-flex one another in front of the camera. They tried to hold "mean faces" as they faced each other but the giggles kept winning in the end.

Last fall, while meeting up to take the oldest's senior pictures, we revisited a few of those shots. This time the giggles were a lot deeper.

Cover girl

Katherine contacted me in need of some personality shots for her website and blog -- as she wraps up college and tries to land a job in publishing. I had a great time working with her. She let me know what she needed, what she was hoping for, what she liked about my images and then turned it over to me.
